The Florida Keys are moving to Central Florida as a Margaritaville Resort makes its way to Osceola County
“Wow this is really something,” said Tim Flack, a Jimmy Buffett fan. He can’t wait for the Margaritaville Resort Orlando to open on US 192 and State Road 429 in Kissimmee.
“All the other millions and millions of Parrotheads, we’re all going to be out here. It’s going to be the hottest ticket in town,” Flack said.
The resort will include a hotel, waterpark, timeshare units and a water taxi system.
Construction recently began on this $750 million resort, that’s more than 300 acres in size.
“You’ve got a mundane job and you’re trying to get out and do something fun on the weekend? We’re going to offer you this escape from your normal work life,” said Jim Bagley, a partner with Margaritaville Resort Orlando.
“It’s going to have huge impact, not only for bed tax but also for local taxes and sales tax. And just the jobs it’s going to create in Osceola County, it's fantastic,” said DT Minich with Experience Kissimmee.
The resort will create nearly 1,000 full-time jobs and it’s expected to generate over 2 million visitors to the site annually. Flack says paradise can’t get here any faster. “I’ll be one of the first to sign up,” he said.
The sales center is just about ready to open on site. Job fairs regarding the resort will start at the end of this year.
The retail spaces, waterpark and hotel are expected to open next year, while the residences will be completed in 2018.
